Marc Andria Maurizzi is a French chess prodigy who was born on May 16, 2007. He holds the title of International Master (IM) and is one of the youngest players ever to attain it. At the age of seven, Maurizzi became the youngest French chess player to earn a FIDE rating.
In 2019, aged 11, Maurizzi eclipsed the record for being the youngest French player to become a FIDE Master (FM). He overtook the title from Mvl, who was 13 when he became a FM, and Etienne Bacrot, who was 10.
Maurizzi regularly competes in national and international tournaments, often against significantly older competitors, but his successes demonstrate that age does not determine skill or potential in chess.
