Sébastien Mazé is a French chess Grandmaster. Born in Niort, France, on March 1, 1984, he attained International Master status in 2003 followed by the title of Grandmaster in 2007.


He has participated in multiple French Championships, winning the tournament in 2016 after scoring 7/9 points. He has also taken part in numerous team competitions, representing France in three Chess Olympiads in 2008, 2010, and 2016. Additionally, he has been a part of the Monaco-based team "Clichy-Echecs-92" which won the French Team Championship in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and the European Club Cup in 2013. He also played for the team "SF Berlin 1903" in the Schach-Bundesliga from 2016 to 2019.


Outside of playing, Mazé has been a coach and was appointed as the technical director of the French Chess Federation in 2019. Notably, he guided members of the French national women's team, guiding Sophie Milliet to the European Women's Championship in 2011.


He has published two chess books, "The Correct Exchange in the Endgame!" (2011) and "The Knight: The Cunning Adversary" (2013).
