Georg Meier is a German chess Grandmaster and a multiple-time German champion. He was born on August 26, 1987, in Trier, Germany. Meier was awarded the International Master title in 2005 and achieved the Grandmaster title in 2007. Some of his notable achievements in chess include becoming the European rapid chess co-champion in 2011, winning the German Chess Championship in 2013 and 2017, and winning the 2010 SPICE Cup Group 'A.'


He has also been a regular participant in Chess World Cups (2007, 2011, 2013, 2015), represented Germany in the Chess Olympiads multiple times (2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016), and the European Team Chess Championships (2007, 2011, 2013, 2015). He contributed significantly to Germany's second place finish at the European Team Chess Championships in 2011.


Meier has represented several German Chess clubs in the Chess Bundesliga including SC Eppingen, OSG Baden-Baden, and SF Berlin 1903. He also has played for the University of Texas at Dallas in the U.S. chess championship league, Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship and the final four of chess.
