Peter Michalik is a Slovak chess grandmaster, born on September 23, 1977, in Bratislava, a city in what was then Czechoslovakia. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster in 2011 by the International Chess Federation (FIDE).


In terms of achievements, Michalik won the Slovak Chess Championship two times, first in 2010 and then again in 2011. He also represented Slovakia in the European Team Chess Championships in 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2013. Moreover, he competed in the Chess Olympiads as a player for Slovakia in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016.



In addition to playing, Michalik also contributes to chess as an author. He co-wrote a book on chess, "Modern Move Orders in the Open Games," published in 2020 with fellow player and Grandmaster Jan Markos.
