Arman Mikaelyan is an Armenian chess International Master (IM) and chess coach. He was born on February 10, 1987 in Yerevan, Armenia. Mikaelyan achieved the IM title in 2004, and the same year he achieved the Grandmaster title, making him one of the youngest chess grandmasters in the world at the time. He won the Armenian Championship in 2002, 2003 and 2006, and represented Armenia in the World Youth Chess Championships in 2002.

Mikaelyan has contributed to chess as an author and an educator. He's the author of an opening book titled "Modern and Enterprising: The Knight's Tour," where he reviews some of the most common traps in the 1.Nf3 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.Nc3 Nc6 4.g3 g6 5.Bg2 Bg7 6.O-O O-O 7.d4 cxd4 8.Nxd4 line for both colors. He has also shared some of his best games and experiences on the Armenian Chess Federation's website.

Additionally, Mikaelyan has been actively involved in chess education, having served as a coach at the Chess Academy of Armenia. He briefly worked as the personal coach of top female player GM Elina Danielian.

Notably, Mikaelyan received a degree in Physics from Yerevan State University in 2008 and a degree in Theoretical Physics from Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich in 2014. Although he has achieved international recognition for his chess career, Mikaelyan has noted that he values his education equally, and has continued to balance his pursuits in both fields.
