Vadim Milov is a Swiss and Israeli chess grandmaster who was born on August 1, 1972, in Ufa, Russia. Before moving to Switzerland in 1997, he won the European Youth Chess Championship for under-16 in 1988. Milov has competed in several international competitions with notable achievements. In 1992, he won the World Junior Chess Championship Silver Medal and in 2005, he emerged as the joint winner in the Aeroflot Open with Alexei Dreev and Emil Sutovsky.


Milov has also participated in the FIDE World Chess Championship tournaments several times. In 2004, he reached the quarterfinals, his best result so far, ultimately losing to the tournament winner Rustam Kasimdzhanov. In the Chess World Cup 2011, he was defeated in the first round by Li Chao.
