Roberto Mogranzini is an Italian chess Grandmaster born on October 29, 1963. He gained his International Master title in 1982, and in 1988 he became the second Italian to receive the title of Grandmaster. He has twice been the Italian National Champion, once in 1982 and again in 1989. He has competed at the Chess Olympiad six times, representing Italy. Besides being a player, he has contributed to several books and publications, assisting prominent players like Fabiano Caruana or re-elaborating his games for book publications. Fluent in five languages, he has also been the long-time assistant of Women's World Chess Champion Zhu Chen.
