Stefan Mohr is a German chess grandmaster who was born on May 27, 1967. After becoming an International Grandmaster in 1989, he emerged victorious in several national and international tournaments. Mohr’s performances in the 1980s and 1990s includes winning the Open German Youth Championship (1986), the Open Bavarian Championship (1989), German Championship (2001), and the championship in the German Chess Bundesliga (1986, 1989, 1993, 1994).


Beginning in the 1990s, Mohr slowly moved away from active gameplay and transitioned into coaching. Notably, he worked as a national coach alongside Uwe Bönsch from 1994 to 1996. Since 2001, Mohr has been publishing chess CDs, working with ChessBase - a chess software company and database service. He also authored "Tactics in the Chess Opening", a series of books written with co-authors Geert van der Stricht and Friso Nijboer.
