Alexander Moiseenko is a Ukrainian chess grandmaster born on 17th May, 1980. Moiseenko won the 2013 European Individual Chess Championship and is a two-time Ukrainian Chess Champion (2007, 2008). He has also won a gold medal at the 2004 FIDE World Chess Championship, and two gold medals at the 2013 and 2015 World Team Chess Championships.


Moiseenko achieved the title of International Master in 1997, and Grandmaster by 2000. In 2001, he claimed first place in the World Junior Chess Championship. An impressive career followed, punctuated by notable successes including shared first prize at the 2004 Ukrainian Chess Championship, topping the table at the Isle of Man Chess Tournament in 2015, and second place at the Gibraltar Chess Festival in 2016.



In team events, Moiseenko has had a vast number of successes. Notably, these include being part of the team that won gold medals at the Chess Olympiad in 2004 and the World Team Chess Championship in 2010 and 2013.
