Iván Eduardo Morovic Fernández, born 24 March 1963, is an eminent Chilean-Croatian chess Grandmaster. He was famed to be the first Chilean chess player that earned a Grandmaster title, which was achieved in 1986.
Morovic has represented Chile in the Chess Olympiads thirteen times. He has obtained 10 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals in the Pan American Team Chess Championship. His other prominent accomplishments include winning the World Under-14 Championship in 1979 and the Mar del Plata Open in 1990. Additionally, he has twice been the champion of the Chilean Championship.
He emerged a victor at Marcel Duchamp Cup 2019, in the Fischer Random Chess category, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He also played against seasoned players like Zhang Zhong and Didier Cámpora. His accolades establish him as one of the finest Chess players in South America and the world.
