Volodar Murzin is a Russian chess player who was born on 24th December 2004. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE (the world chess federation) in 2020, at only 15 years old.
At 2nd Youth Championships in Sochi in 2015, Murzin won his first championship. He won both the Moscow Youth Championship and the Russian Youth Championship in 2016. In June 2017, he participated in the Andranik Margaryan Memorial tournament in Armenia winning the tournament and achieved his first International Master norm.
In 2018, he twice won the Moscow championship and also emerged victorious in the Russian championship, under the age category of 14 years. He also won the Chigorin Memorial tournament, and played for the Russian national team in the World Under-16 Olympiad in Turkey, where they won the team gold medal.
In May 2019, Murzin played in 13th World's Youth Stars – Vanya Somov Memorial tournament in Kirishi, Russia, where he tied for 1st–3rd places. He won the 19th European Youth Chess Championship in the under 16 category.
