Peter Heine Nielsen is a Danish chess grandmaster, coach and analyst. He was born on May 24, 1973, in Holstebro, Denmark. He won the Danish Chess Championship five times, and competed for Denmark in the Chess Olympiads. Nielsen has served as a second for former World Chess Champions Viswanathan Anand and Magnus Carlsen, supporting them in their championship matches.
Nielsen has a strong reputation as a coach and second. He worked with World Chess Champion Vishwanathan Anand from 2002 until 2012, and started working with World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen in 2013. In this role, Nielsen prepares opening strategies and helps with pre-match preparation, playing a crucial role in the success of these world champions.
