Juraj Nikolac is a Croatian chess player who was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 2004.
Nikolac was born on March 16, 1943 in Sisak. He started his professional chess career in the late 1960s, with his first significant success coming in 1972, when he won the Yugoslavian National Championship. He has also represented Yugoslavia in several Chess Olympiads, and his team won the gold medal at the European Team Chess Championship in 1989.
After the breakup of Yugoslavia, Nikolac began representing Croatia in international competitions. He was part of the Croatian team that won a silver medal at the 1992 Chess Olympiad. He has also won several individual titles, including in Zagreb in 1995, 1998, 2004 and 2005.
In addition to his playing career, Nikolac has written several books on chess theory and has been a regular contributor to chess magazines and periodicals.
