Oleg Nikolenko is a Russian-born chess Grandmaster currently representing the Federated States of Micronesia. Born on 19th March 1997, he achieved the International Master title in 2017 and then the Grandmaster title in 2019.
Throughout his career, Nikolenko has played numerous tournaments, notably winning the 2017 Eurasian Blitz Cup in Kazakhstan and coming second in the 2019 FIDE World Fischer Random Chess Championship qualifiers.
In 2020, he switched his federation to the Federated States of Micronesia. The economic conditions and lack of professional chess infrastructure in Micronesia make his achievement particularly impressive, as he's the only Grandmaster in the federation.
