Stanimir Nikolić is a Serbian chess Grandmaster, born in Šabac, Serbia on June 12, 1942. He won accolades at several international chess competitions, including winning the Yugoslav Chess Championship in 1976. Nikolić represented Yugoslavia in seven Chess Olympiads between 1968-1984 and he also earned three team silver medals, one bronze medal, along with one individual bronze medal.
Nikolić earned notable titles; he became an International Master in 1970 and an International Grandmaster in 1978. He has successfully played against several famous world champions, including Boris Spassky, Mikhail Tal, Vassily Smyslov, and Anatoly Karpov.
