Benjamin Arvola Notkevich is a Norwegian chess player who was awarded the title of International Master (IM) in 2010 and the title of Grandmaster (GM) in 2017 by the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
Born on January 31, 1991, in Tromsø, Norway, Notkevich started to achieve significant milestones as a chess player at an early age. In 2007, he was the winner of the Norwegian Junior Chess Championship. In 2014 and 2018, he won twice in the Open Norwegian Chess Championship.
His International Master (IM) norm achievements were at the Arctic Chess Challenge and at the Oslo Chess International tournaments in 2009 and 2010. He acquired his Grandmaster (GM) norms at the Oslo Chess International Tournament in 2012, another Oslo Chess International in 2016 and at the FSIM February 2017 in Budapest.
Aside from individual matches, Notkevich has also participated in team chess competitions. He played for Norway's national team in the European Team Chess Championship in 2015. He was also a part of the chess clubs Tromsø SK, where he won several Norwegian Chess team Championships, and the OSG Baden-Baden in Germany, where he won the German Chess Bundesliga in the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Whenever he is not participating in chess tournaments, Notkevich works as a teacher and a chess coach in Tromsø.
