Beyond his own chess career, Ostojić also contributed to the sport through his role as a chess administrator. For instance, he was President of the Montenegro Chess Federation for several years. Ostojić died in 1996, but his impact on the chess world continues to be felt. There is an annual international chess tournament held in Nikšić in his honor. He is remembered for his motto: "Every chess player should contribute to the chess world at least as much as he took from it."
