Duško Pavasovič is a Slovenian chess Grandmaster. Born on December 15, 1976, he started playing chess at a young age. He has participated in numerous world tournaments and has attained numerous national and international titles.


Pavasovič gained his International Master title in 1997 and his Grandmaster title in 1999. He won the Slovenian Chess Championship twice in his career, once in 1999 and again in 2006. He represented Slovenia in seven Chess Olympiads between 1998 and 2010. During the 2011 European Club Cup, he played for the team Minsk who then placed fifth.



Through the years, Pavasovič has not only made a name for himself as an accomplished chess player, but he has also contributed significantly to the promotion of chess. While in Budapest, Hungary, he served as a co-commentator for the website ChessBase during the 2013 World Chess Championship match between Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand.


After retiring from professional chess, Pavasovič pursued a career in academia. He is currently a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. His PhD research focuses on cognitive psychology and decision making in real-world situations. The study includes the implications of chess expertise on emotional intelligence and other cognitive skills.
