Jerguš Pecháč is a Slovakian chess grandmaster who was born on July 10, 1999. His chess journey started at the age of six at his local chess club, where he was coached by IM Ľuboš Beňa. By the time he was nine years old, Pecháč had won the Slovakian Youth Championship and by the age of ten, he took the overall title.
In 2012, he worked with International Master Andrej Králik and others to rapidly improve his skills. This allowed him to earn the title of FIDE Master in the same year, and later International Master in 2015. After gaining experience through several international tournaments, Pecháč achieved the Grandmaster title in 2017, which was confirmed by FIDE in 2018. His current club affiliation is with ŠK Dunajská Streda and he is currently studying at Comenius University in Bratislava. Despite simultaneous academic engagements, he continues to actively pursue his chess career.
