Yannick Pelletier is a Swiss chess grandmaster and four-time Swiss Champion. Born in Biel in 1976, he became a Grandmaster in 2001. Over his career, he has won the Swiss Championship in 1995, 2000, 2002, and 2010.


Among his achievements, Pelletier has won several major chess tournaments, including the youth rapid chess event in Paris in 1994, the Geneva Open in 1996, and the Young Masters tournament in Lausanne in 1999.


He has represented Switzerland in multiple chess olympiads from 1996 to 2014, and has also competed in several European team championships in 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2005. He was part of a team that won the European Club Cup in 2001.


In addition to playing, Pelletier has worked as a chess journalist, and has delivered chess commentary for various media outlets. He's also authored a number of DVDs about chess.


Pelletier is fluent in five languages: German, English, French, Spanish and Russian.
