Nicholas Pert is a British chess Grandmaster and head coach of the English Chess Federation. He was born in October 1981 and has been playing chess since he was a young boy. His career achievements include earning the World Under 18 Chess Championship in 1998, along with his brother Richard pertaining International Masters in the same competition. This achievement made them the first brothers to hold World Junior titles simultaneously.

Upon earning his grandmaster title in 2004, Pert became one of the top British players. He actively participates in the 4NCL (the top team chess league in the United Kingdom) and represents Guildford Chess Club. Pert had a notable performance at the Gibraltar Masters tournament in 2014 where he had eight points out of ten, gaining him a shared second place after five-way tie break.

Pert also has a significant career in chess coaching. He has taught nationally and internationally, and worked for several years as a coach for the English Chess Federation. He has several training DVDs to his name, produced by the company ChessBase. These include "Typical Mistakes by 1800-2000 Players" and "The French Defence."
