Marian Petrov is a Bulgarian chess Grandmaster and a professional chess coach. Before becoming a Grandmaster in 2002, he won several championships, including the Bulgarian Championship, European Championship, and World Championship for students. From 2000 to 2006, he worked as a trainer for the Greek Chess Federation.
Petrov is known for his expertise in the Open Games (1.e4 e5), especially in the Two Knights Defence and the Scotch Game. He has authored numerous books and DVDs on the subject. Many top players, including world champions like Veselin Topalov and Antoaneta Stefanova, have been his students.
Currently, Petrov teaches chess via online platforms. His students include beginners, intermediate players, and top-level chess players. He has also been a trainer for the national teams of Turkey and Singapore. In addition to his coaching career, Petrov continues to participate in chess competitions internationally.
