Jeroen Piket is a retired Dutch chess Grandmaster and Four-time Dutch Chess Champion. He was born on January 27, 1969, in Leiden, Netherlands. Piket started playing chess at an early age and won the World Youth Chess Championship (U16) in 1984. He became an International Master in 1986 and was awarded the grandmaster title in 1989.



In international circuits, Piket achieved significant successes at the Wijk aan Zee tournament (1990), Brussels (1991), Dortmund (1994), Monaco (1996), and Amsterdam (2000).


At the end of 2001, Piket retired from professional chess to work as a secretary for businessman Joop van Oosterom. However, he continued to contribute to the chess world by assisting Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen as one of several analysts during World Chess Championship matches.


Throughout his career, Piket played head-to-head with several world champions such as Garry Kasparov, Anatoly Karpov, and Viswanathan Anand, holding an even score with Anand.


Despite his retirement, Jeroen Piket is still considered one of the finest Dutch chess players and his contributions to the game are noted and respected in the international chess community.
