Kacper Piorun is a Polish chess player who achieved the title of Grandmaster (GM) in 2012. He was born on 24 November 1991 in Kłudzice, Poland. Piorun is known for his accomplishments in both traditional chess and Chess Problem Solving.
In traditional chess he became a Grandmaster after winning the 1st quarter FIDE Presidential Board 2012 and the European Championship U18 in 2009. Piorun has also represented Poland in team events including the World Team Chess Championship, the European Team Chess Championship and the World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad. Moreover, he has won the Polish national titles individually and as part of a team.
In Chess Problem Solving, he achieved his International Master title in 2011 and the Grandmaster of Chess Solving title in 2013. He is a five-time world champion in Chess Problem Solving, achieving this honor in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2021.
His Chess Problem Solving titles include: World Champion (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021); and European Champion (2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2019). He also placed first in the World Chess Solving Championship contests in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
In 2019, he surpassed a historic title record by becoming the third-highest scoring person of all time in this category.
