GM Pavel Potapov

Pavel Potapov (born July 9, 1986) is an International Chess Grandmaster from Russia. He achieved the title of Grandmaster (GM) in 2012. In 2016, he became the Russian Champion among athletes with hearing impairments. He started playing chess from an early age with his father as coach. He played for Moscow State University at the World Youth U-16 Chess Olympiad, leading his team to victory multiple times. In 2003, he finished fourth at the European Individual Chess Championship and won the Russian Junior Chess Championship. He is recognized in the chess community for his aggressive and imaginative style of play. Currently, Potapov works as a coach in the Chigorin Chess Club.
