Markus Ragger is an Austrian chess player who has achieved the title of a Grandmaster. He was born on February 5, 1988. In 2005, Markus Ragger became Austrian Youth Champion in the group of players up to 18 years of age. He aced the European Championship in the under 18 age group in 2005, which took place in Herceg Novi, Serbia and Montenegro.
In 2016, he won the 18th European Individual Chess Championship and the second highest rated Austrian player behind only David Shengelia.
In addition to this, he won the bronze medal in the European School Chess Championship for teams in December, 2006. His significant performances in the game have won him 3rd place in the European Championship among teams in which Austria participated for the first time.
Ragger studied Psychology and Sports Science at the Karl-Franzens-University in Graz and completed his studies in 2014.
