Ankit Rajpara is an Indian chess grandmaster who was born November 28, 1992. He earned his Grandmaster title in 2014 after achieving his final GM norm at the Cannes Open.
Rajpara's chess career started with his participation in the World Youth Chess Championship in Greece in 2010 where he succeeded to be the runner-up in the Under-18 category. His next major achievement was in 2012 when he won the silver medal in the World Junior Chess Championship in Athens.
Ankit Rajpara has played in a number of other top chess championships. He participated in the FIDE World Cup 2015 where he played against many high-profile players. In the Chess World Cup 2017, Rajpara reached the second round. He has also competed in the Indian Premier League (IPL) of chess.
In the 2015 national championship, he won his first gold. Later in 2018, he again registered a win in the KIIT Elite GM closed tournament in Bhubaneswar.
Aside from his player career, Rajpara also stands as a second to other players. For example, he was the second to Vidit Gujrathi in 2016.
Rajapara is currently employed with Indian Oil Corporation under sports quota. His achievements in professional chess along with his tournament wins have cemented him as a standout player in the world of chess.
