Jean-Noël Riff is a French chess player, trainer, and author. He was awarded the title of International Master in 2006, and subsequently titled as a Grandmaster in 2018. Born on June 16, 1972 in Haguenau, France, Riff engaged in multiple chess championships such as the French Chess Championships and World Youth Chess Championship throughout his career.
Riff, apart from his performance as a player, is a committed chess educator. He lends his expertise as a chess trainer and runs his own chess coaching company, Cours d'Échecs à Strasbourg et à Distance (CESAD). He teaches all levels and ages, and even offers online courses through his website. He has also authored several chess-based books collaborating with another grandmaster, Bjarke Sahl Pedersen.
Riff is known for his unique approach to teaching chess, focusing on both the strategy and entertainment aspects of the game to make it more accessible and enjoyable to all players.
