Vadim Ruban (born 16 September 1962 in Voronezh) is a Russian chess Grandmaster (GM) and FIDE Trainer. He earned the title of Grandmaster in 1994 after his noteworthy performance in chess tournaments. Ruban also served as the coach for the national teams of both Bangladesh and Hong Kong, taking the Bangladesh team to the Chess Olympiad in 2006 and both teams to the Chess Olympiad in 2008.
As an author, Ruban has made significant contributions to numerous chess publications. Some of his more prominent work includes "Modern Chess Strategy," a column where he elucidates complex chess strategies for the modern player, as well as his analyses of major championships and tournaments for several chess magazines and websites.
