Eltaj Safarli is an Azerbaijani chess Grandmaster and former world youth chess champion. Born on May 18, 1992, in Baku, Azerbaijan, he gained the Grandmaster title in 2008 when he was only 16. That same year, he also won the Azerbaijani Chess Championship.


Over the years, Safarli has earned several important scores in chess tournaments. In 2009, he won the category 16 SPICE Cup Group A tournament held in Texas. In 2016, he tied for first place in the Nakhchivan Open and claimed the Tata Steel Challengers section.


However, Safarli's most significant achievement to date came in 2010 when he won the World Youth Chess Championship in the under-18 category.



Safarli has also contributed to the world of chess literature, co-authoring a book with fellow grandmaster Alexey Dreev titled "Find the Plan: Think More - Win More". The book offers insights into their thought processes and encourages readers to think deeper and expand their understanding of chess. It has been lauded as an essential contribution to chess literature.


Safarli's status as a chess Grandmaster has brought him notoriety beyond the chess world, and he continues to contribute actively to the game.
