Pablo San Segundo Carrillo is a Spanish chess Grandmaster. Born in Madrid in 1970, he earned the International Master title in 1992 and became a Grandmaster in 2000. Also, in 2000, he won the 65th Spanish Chess Championship and led the national team at the European Team Chess Championships.


San Segundo Carrillo has thrice competed in the Chess World Cup, in 2005, 2007, and 2011. His best performance in a World Cup tournament was in 2005 when he made it to the second round. He has also performed well in other international tournaments, including the IV Open Internacional Ciudad de Móstoles in 2006 and the Magistral Ciutat de Barcelona in 2001, both of which he won.


He is known for his aggressive, attacking style, and his ability to create complex, imaginative positional problems for his opponents. Alongside his career as a player, San Segundo has also taught chess lessons and has coached other Spanish players. He managed the University of Oviedo team from 2013 to 2016, guiding them to a victory in the 2016 Spanish University Chess Championship.
