Marc Santo-Roman is a French chess Grandmaster (GM) of Vietnamese origin who was awarded the GM title in 2006. He was born on July 6, 1960 in Dalat, Vietnam. He won the French Chess Championship in 1989 in Besançon and repeated the victory in 1995 in Pau. Among his other prominent achievements, Santo-Roman shared first place at the 1991 Moissy-Cramayel (Seine-et-Marne) Open Tournament, along with French Grandmaster Jean-Marc Degraeve. Santo-Roman was also the 1996 champion of the Paris region, L'Ile-de-France, and he represented France in the European Team Chess Championship in 1997 in Pula, Croatia. Santo-Roman is also known for his participation in numerous French Team Championships.
