Stanislav Savchenko is a Ukrainian professional chess player who attained the stature of International Master in 1980 and Grandmaster in 1984. He has been an active participant in numerous chess championships, including various Zonal and Ukrainian championships. Some of his most significant wins were at the Chigorin Memorial Championships in Sochi (1984), Portugal (1985), and Polanica-Zdrój (1988).
In 1995, Savchenko shared first place with Vladimir Akopian in the Stepanakert International Tournament in Nagorno-Karabakh. In 2006, he also shared first place in the Mumbai Mayor's Cup Tournament in India.
Besides his personal accomplishments, Savchenko has also coached other players. He has mentored Valentina Gunina, helping her become European Women's Champion three times and Women's World Blitz Chess Champion three times as well.
