Samy was born in Paris, France, but grew up in Egypt. He started playing chess at the age of six and at the age of 15, he won the Egyptian Chess Championship, becoming one of the youngest champions in Egyptian chess history.
Shoker was admitted to study at the National Higher School of Computer Science for Industry and Business (ENSIIE), a prestigious school in France. However, he decided to dedicate his life to chess instead.
Some of his notable achievements are winning the Montauban Open in France 2008 and the Trophee International de Lyon in 2009. He has participated in many international tournaments around the world and has represented Egypt in the Chess Olympiad.
