Anton Aleksandrovich Shomoev is a Russian chess Grandmaster (the highest title a chess player can attain). He was born on March 5, 1981, in St. Petersburg. Shomoev achieved his Grandmaster title in 2003. Anton played for the bronze medal-winning Russia in the World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad of 1997. He also took part in the FIDE World Chess Championship 2002 but was knocked out in round one. Shomoev has taken part in multiple Chess Olympiads starting from 2003 and has participated in a number of international tournaments including the Aeroflot Open and the Russian Chess Championship. He won the 2011 Chigorin Memorial.
