Sebastian Siebrecht is a German chess Grandmaster and chess coach. He was born on February 19, 1973, in Münster, Germany, and began studying chess intensively at the age of 16. Siebrecht became a FIDE Master in 1995, an International Master in 1996, and a Grandmaster in 2008.
His greatest achievement came in 1997 when he finished 2nd in the German Chess Championship. Siebrecht has also participated in several European and World Championships over the course of his career. He is known for his show "Fritz Trainer" that teaches the basics of chess and beyond.
Besides being a championship-level player, Siebrecht has made significant contributions to chess coaching and promotion. Since 2002, he's been working as a professional chess coach dedicating a lot of time to children and young talents. He has contributed to the training of many players who have achieved titles such as World and European Champions.
Siebrecht has written several chess training books and appeared on TV shows and chess-themed DVDs, demonstrating his ability to make the game accessible and enjoyable.
In 2016, the German Chess Federation awarded him the title of "Trainer of the Year." And in 2019, he was named "Organizer of the Year" by the same federation for his "Faszination Schach" events. These week-long programs, hosted in shopping centres across Germany, aim to promote chess to broader audiences through a mix of tournaments, simultaneous exhibitions, and training sessions.
