In 2015, Simonian won the European School Chess Championship for players under 17. He also won multiple Armenian School Chess Championships, became the winner of Armenian Youth Chess Championship (U20) twice. He got an International Master title in 2016. Over more than 10 years of participating in the professional chess, he played in 43 international chess tournaments on 4 continents and in 16 countries.
In 2014 and 2015, representing the Armenia youth team, Simonian took part in the World Chess Olympiad. Also, Simonian played over 170 games against grandmasters from 30 countries. He was awarded the Kalantaryan Cup in 2018 and the «Tigran Petrosian» Cup in 2019. He has also published analytical reviews of games and other materials in various publications. Apart from his dedication in chess, he is currently studying at the Russian-Armenian University in Yerevan.
