Bryan G. Smith is an American chess Grandmaster, an International Master, and a well-established author. He was born on January 5, 1980 and became a Grandmaster in 2013. Smith has written a variety of books and articles about chess, featuring both self-improvement tips and advanced strategies for experienced players. Smith's most notable victory was at the 2008 National Chess Congress, where he claimed first prize. In 2009, he ended the World Open tournament in fourth place, which marked his first time winnings such an international tournament. In 2011, he won the Philadelphia International tournament. Smith studied philosophy at the University of Alaska at Anchorage and became a professional chess player in 1999.
