Maarten Solleveld (1968, Netherlands) is a Dutch chess grandmaster. He earned his International Master title in 2001, and his Grandmaster title in 2004. Solleveld played in the Chess Olympiad in 2004 and 2006 for the Dutch team. Meanwhile, he finished in 2nd place in the Dutch Chess Championship in 2005. In 2014, he won the Wijk aan Zee, a tournament that celebrates amateur and professional chess.
Solleveld's career also includes teaching posts at the University of Amsterdam, Ghent University, and KU Leuven. His research primarily involves ancient historians and historiographers. He received a PhD from Utrecht University in 2007.
He is also an author, and his book, Roma Aeterna: Varro and Rome, was published in the Mnemosyne Supplements series in 2014. The book explored how Varro represents Rome in his Antiquities, focusing on seeing Rome in terms of its historical evolution.
