Ariel Sorín is an Argentine international chess Grandmaster. He was born on July 26, 1967 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Sorín has been Argentina's champion twice, first in 1993 and then in 2001, and also claimed victory at the Mar del Plata Open in 1988, 1994, and 2011. He has represented Argentina in numerous team events including five Chess Olympiads. Sorin earned his Grandmaster title in 1995. In 2005, he represented his country again at the World Team Chess Championship. He is known for his aggressive style of play and has been praised for his contributions to chess in Argentina.
