Markus Stangl is an accomplished German chess grandmaster and FIDE Trainer. Born in Berlin, Germany, on October 30, 1969, Stangl earned his grandmaster title in 1992. He is known for being the winner of several renowned chess tournaments.
Stangl won the German Junior Championship in 1987, two German Open Championships in 1991 and 1992, the tournament in Schwarzach in 1993, the tournament in Bad Wörishofen in 1995, and the Austrian Team Championship in the 1991/92 and 2006/07 seasons. He emerged victorious in the Bavarian Championship in 1997, 2002, 2004 and 2005, and the Munich Summer Tournament in 1998.
Stangl is affiliated with multiple chess clubs, such as SG Porz in the Chess Bundesliga, and the Austrian team SV Schwarzach. He has also competed in the UK, playing for Slough in both the Four Nations Chess League and the European Cup in 1998. Additionally, Stangl has authored several chess textbooks.
