Chess Master Biography
Frederik Svane is a Danish chess player who was awarded the title of International Master (IM) by Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) in 2018, and Grandmaster (GM) in 2020. He was born on March 9, 2002 and he is the son of IM Claus Svane and younger brother of IM Jonas Svane.
Svane has been a dominant force within the world of chess since a young age. He won the under-10 section at the European Youth Chess Championship in 2011, and the under-12 section of the World Schools Chess Championships in 2014. He also competed at the World Youth Chess Championship in 2016, finishing ninth in the under-14 section.
In September 2020, Svane secured his third and final GM norm, therefore attaining the title of Grandmaster (the highest title a chess player can acquire). He became only the tenth GM in Denmark's history and, at 18 years old, the second youngest Danish player to achieve such status. He currently participates in various national and international championships.
