Tan Zhongyi is a Chinese chess grandmaster who won the Women's World Chess Championship in 2017. She was born on May 29, 1991, in Chongqing. Tan became a Woman International Master (WIM) in 2002 when she won the World Girls U12 Championship. She then reached the rank of Woman Grandmaster (WGM) in 2004.
Her notable achievements include winning the Asian Under-12 Girls’ Championship in 2002 and the World Junior Girls Championship in 2003 and 2005. In 2008, she was part of the Chinese team that won the Women's World Team Championship and repeated that success in 2015. She also played for China at the Women's Chess Olympiads.
