Aryan Tari is a Norwegian International Chess Grandmaster, the title which he earned in 2016. He was born on June 4, 1999, in Norway to Iranian parents. He began playing chess at an early age, learning the basics of the game from his father.
Tari won the U14 European Youth Chess Championship in Montenegro in 2012 and the World Youth Chess Championship in the U18 category, in 2015 when he was just 16. His victory in the World Junior Chess Championship in Italy in 2017 made him the second Norwegian after Magnus Carlsen to win such a title.
He is currently a member of the Vålerenga Chess Club in Oslo, Norway. Also, he's known to admire Chess World Champion Magnus Carlsen, who has been an influence in his life. According to Tari, Carlsen’s achievements have popularized chess in Norway and made it possible for other players like him to create a viable career in it.
