Samvel Ter-Sahakyan is an Armenian chess player who was awarded the title of Grandmaster (GM) by FIDE in 2010. He was born on September 21, 1993, in Yerevan, Armenia. He began his chess career at a young age, winning the World Youth Chess Championship in the under-14 category in 2007, and the Armenian Chess Championship in 2008. From the period of 2007 to 2016, he played for the Armenian national team, winning 5 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal.
Ter-Sahakyan has seen success in both national and international arenas, winning the 72nd Armenian Chess Championship in 2008 and placing first in the 2009 Lake Sevan tournament. He notably tied 3rd-7th positions in the Cappelle-la-Grande Open Tournament in 2010 and tied 4th-6th positions in the Groningen Chess Festival in 2011. In 2012, he managed to share 2nd spot in the Albena International Chess Festival.
