Georgy Timoshenko is a Ukrainian chess player who earned the title of Grandmaster (GM) in 1980. He was born on 19th February 1950 in Shostka, Ukraine. Throughout his chess career, Timoshenko has won various national and international chess tournaments.
He won the Ukrainian Chess Championship twice in 1978 and 1980. He also bagged victories in various international tournaments such as Albena in 1975, 1976, and 1977, Varna in 1978, Sofia in 1980, Krk in 1981, and many others. Timoshenko also won in shared first at Novi Sad in 1981, Varna in 1982, and finished second and third at Leipzig in 1976 and Pucarevo in 1987 respectively.
After 2005, there are no recorded games of Timoshenko in the chess databases. His contributions to chess have been appreciated by the chess community and have earned him a place in the history of the game.
