Sergei Tiviakov is a Russian-born Dutch chess Grandmaster, born on 14th February 1973 in Krasnodar, Russia. He earned his Grandmaster title in 1991 while living in Russia before moving to the Netherlands in 1997. He represents the Netherlands in international tournaments and championships. Tiviakov has been successful in many international chess tournaments, as well as consistently ranking among the world's top chess players.

Tiviakov's extensive achievements include winning the European Team Chess Championship twice, in 2001 and 2005, where he played an essential part of the Dutch team. In 2008, he won the Individual European Championship, a clear achievement verifying his strong skillset. In 2013, he won the Dutch Championship for the first time and has consistently finished in top positions in several other championships over the years.

Tiviakov is also known for his prowess in the Sicilian Defence, particularly the Paulsen Variation. He has produced instructional videos covering openings, middle game tactics, and endgame strategies. A notorious traveler, he's played tournaments in more countries than any other Grandmaster.
