Todorov was born in Bulgaria on April 25, 1931. He earned the title of an International Master (IM) in 1965. Following this, he achieved a significant milestone in 1972, becoming an International Grandmaster (GM) of Correspondence Chess. Interestingly, he managed to become a GM without first becoming an FM (FIDE Master).
Todorov showed his skills by taking part in Bulgarian Championships. He was particularly successful in 1969 when he managed to secure a third place in the event.
His proficiency in correspondence chess was also remarkable. He competed in two World Correspondence Chess Championships, namely - the 5th and 6th. His best effort was in the 5th championship where he finished 5th.
