Georgi Tringov was a prominent Bulgarian chess grandmaster. Born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, on March 7, 1937, he became well-known in the chess world after he won the Bulgarian national championship three times and achieved the title of International Grandmaster in 1963.


Tringov's numerous successes in major international chess competitions are also detailed. He won the Mar del Plata tournament in 1961, placed first in the Rubinstein Memorial in Polanica-Zdrój in 1968 and 1969, and became first at Vrsac in 1973.


The chess grandmaster represented his country at twelve Chess Olympiads between 1956 and 1982. Tringov was a key figure in team Bulgaria's achievement of a fourth-place result at the 1968 Olympiad in Lugano. He also made significant individual contributions at various Chess Olympiads, winning silver in 1966 and bronze in 1972.


Tringov died on July 2, 2000, in Germany. His legacy in the chess world is that of a prominent figure in Bulgarian chess history and a highly respected competitor in international chess scenes.
