Maxim Turov is a Russian chess grandmaster born on 12 December 1979. Turov earned his grandmaster title in 1999. He emerged as the winner in multiple chess tournaments, including the Paris Championship in 2000, the 2012 Reykjavik Open, and the 45th Groningen Chess Festival in late 2012, where he beat his fellow grandmaster Sipke Ernst.
Turov gained further recognition when he remained undefeated in the 7th Campomanes Memorial Cup held in the Philippines in August 2016. He scored impressive points against players from across the globe, making a substantial impact in the world of international chess.
He also made significant contributions to the team victory of ShSm-64, a Russian chess club, at the European Club Cup 2009 and during the Russian Team Championship's Premier League 2010, both times as a member of the winning team. He has consistently ranked among the world's top 100 players since earning his grandmaster title.
